To all community members of Murrindindi-Woodbourne
31 Jul 09
To all the residents of Murrindindi-Woodbourne,
Since the Black Saturday bushfires Victorians have had to come together in many different ways.
The Victorian government has formed an authority the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority (VBRRA), under their umbrella is a Committee of Council known as Section 86 and under this is the Community Advisory Groups. The Melba Community Advisory Group is to cover, Glenburn, Murrindindi-Woodbourne and Limestone.
We as a community have a chance to improve and enhance our beautiful district by taking what the community needs and wants to these meetings.
We had our first meeting last night (Thursday, 30th July). Representing our community at these meetings are: Dr. Michael Guerin, Stan Banbury and Sue Devereaux who all applied through the Murrindindi Shire Council to be on this committee.
Some issues put forward last night were as follows.
- Communication Strategy (Mt. Despair) establishing a transmission tower to upgrade communications throughout the valley. Found to be very lacking during the fires.
- Community Meeting Room
- Reconstruction of the Scenic Reserve
The Communities opinions are very much needed and valued and this is where YOU come in.
Please contact either of the following to discuss any queries, issues or ideas you feel that the community will benefit from, it doesn't matter how big or small we will be happy to put them forward at these meetings.
